The Lequio Resort in Okinawa (sometimes known as the Rekio Hotel due to translating problems) is a popular spot for urban explorers near camp Schwab on the northern end of Nago. Featuring 3 main areas and a large amount of fully explorable rooms and floors the area can take up a fair share of time if you want to see everything. Luckily for you we spent a couple hours photographing the views from the roof, the wonderful art in some of the rooms and the general vibe of the whole place for you. I also took the liberty to look up some of the back story on the hotel and will be sure to include bits of info between the photos below!
The Lequio is one of many resorts and hotels built during the 70's hotel boom on Okinawa and unlike some of the others actually opened for some time before reaching its current urban playground state. The Resort is nestled high on a hill with many of the rooms and the roof offering an impressive view of a gorgeous bay.
The pool and most of the area honestly is in pretty bad shape. Winds blow right through the building so if you do venture up to the location please keep safety in mind.
By far one of the coolest parts of the area is all the graffiti and urban art. Also as you can see during the right times of day the light through some of the rooms can be very nice!
Easily one of the best rooms in the hotel perfect for some portraiture. The natural light just spills into it perfectly making for some nice dramatic shots.
A budding photographer friend got his fare share of camera time in on the trip. Thanks for coming along Jamero and also a thank you to Omari and Matthew, two other local photographers who decided to come join the fun.
That about wraps up this post, We are already in 2016 over here in Okinawa enjoy your celebrations!
